These terms were last updated in April 2024.
Welcome to Meet Margo. Meet Margo is a mobile application (our “app”) and website available at https://meetmargo.uk/ (our “website”) which amongst other things, compares financial products including mortgages and other services that may be available to you depending upon your circumstances. These are our “mortgage services”.
So it doesn’t get confusing, when we use the term “our services”, this is a catch all for use of our app, our website, our mortgage services and our protection services (explained later).
We get it – legal documents are boring but necessary, so we’ve done our best to keep these terms as brief as possible so you understand how we work, what our services include, and what you’re agreeing to by using our services. Just so you know, you’re agreeing to our privacy and cookie policy, which you can find here (so please read them).
We are Meet Margo Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. Our company number is 13887760 and our registered office is 5 Merchant Square, London W2 1AY (“we”, “us” or “our”). We own and operate the app, the website and the mortgage services.
We’re an Appointed Representative of PRIMIS Mortgage Network, a trading name of Personal Touch Financial Services Ltd. Personal Touch Financial Services Ltd is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under reference number 187834. Our firm reference number is 985789.
If you need us, email us at hello@meetmargo.uk or use the chat function in our app.
We’re driven by one goal – to make the mortgage process as easy as humanly possible. We can help you if you are looking for a residential remortgage (available via our app) or personal and business protection (available by emailing us at insurance@meetmargo.uk). If you’re looking for to purchase a home or buy to let mortgage, we can facilitate this – just reach out to us by email to hello@meetmargo.uk.
You need to be at least 18 years old, capable of entering into a legal contract, and a UK resident with a UK bank account – simple!
One important thing to note is that we don’t offer advice about second-charge mortgages or loans, commercial lending, or unsecured lending. If you need these types of loans, let us know and we can refer you to a trusted partner that may be able to help.
If we are recommending a buy to let mortgage for you, it is important to understand that not all buy to let mortgages are regulated by the FCA. We’ll let you know if any product we are recommending is not regulated by the FCA.
We’ve created our mortgage services as a one-stop shop, enabling you to:
For a remortgage: The next step is to download the app from an app store and you should read the app store’s terms and conditions and privacy policy as these will apply to you.
You’ll then need to create a free account on our app using an email and password or a magic link, or by using Apple, Google or Facebook. If you use a password, keep it safe and don’t share it with anyone else, and you’re responsible for all activity on your account (to be careful!) If you ever discover or suspect that someone else has your login details, make sure you change them pronto and let us know by emailing support@meetmargo.uk.
We can temporarily suspend or permanently disable your account if you use our services for anything unlawful or fraudulent or if you breach these terms in any way.
For a mortgage to purchase a house: The next step is to fill out the contact form on our website here.
For home or personal insurance (only) the next step is to email insurance@meetmargo.uk.
Our services are completely free as lenders pay us commission based on a percentage of your mortgage once the mortgage application has been completed. That percentage is marginally the same with every lender. The ESIS document you’ll receive from the lender will tell you exactly how much commission we’ll be paid for your mortgage when it completes.
Different lenders may charge varying product fees for specific mortgage deals. We’ll provide you with a breakdown of all the fees and costs associated with your mortgage before you proceed, so you can make an informed decision about your options.
Things change, so if we do charge for our services, we’ll notify you by detailing this on our app and our website.
We offer a comprehensive range of first-charge mortgages from across a panel of over 70 lenders, including deals only advisers can access. This doesn’t include deals only available by applying to a lender directly. If we find that your mortgage is best placed with one of those lenders, we’ll tell you so you can go direct – because we have your back like that.
When you take out a mortgage with any of the lenders we work with, you’ll be required to agree to their own specific terms and conditions. As such, we cannot be held responsible for the operations and policies of these lenders.
We’re committed to finding you the right mortgage for your needs, regardless of who the lender is.
Once you have an account, you’ll be asked to provide full information about yourself, any co-borrower and your circumstances. If you abandon this process, we’ll send you a few friendly reminders. We can then use that information to search the market for products.
Once you’ve found a deal you’re interested in, you will be asked to upload several important documents to help us see which lenders criteria you meet. This will only take a few minutes to complete and will not impact your credit score.
Once your verification is complete, you will be directed to schedule a call with an adviser to finalise your application. It is at this point our adviser will provide mortgage advice based on the information you have given us about you, your circumstances and your personal preferences. Any information you give us needs to be complete, accurate, up to date and (most importantly) honest. Let us know if your circumstances change so we can update your lender. It’s possible that the recommendations might then change.
The documents relating to your mortgage will be saved in your personal vault. You should read these carefully and if you have any questions, you can ask your broker within the in-app chat function.
When you’re ready to proceed with your mortgage deal, you can let us know through the app and we’ll be there to keep you updated every step of the way. You’ll have access to a live timeline of your application progress and our team is available on chat if you need us. By using our services, you’re giving us the go-ahead to communicate with mortgage lenders and other third parties on your behalf as part of the application process.
We’ll make sure to keep you informed of all the costs and fees before you finalise your mortgage deal so that you can choose the option that’s best for you. Our team will be with you throughout the process, providing updates via the app or email as needed until your mortgage is complete.
While we’ll always strive to match you with a lender that’s suitable for your circumstances, we can never guarantee that your application will be approved by the lender. Every lender has their own lending criteria, which means they may choose to withdraw your mortgage offer, and unfortunately, this is out of our control.
We approach home finance holistically and as part of your experience with us, we’ll also review your personal, and home insurance policies to make sure you’re not paying more than you should. This is referred to as “our protection services”.
You can schedule a call with our protection specialists at any time of your Meet Margo journey. We offer protection insurance from a panel of 17 insurers for the following insurance products: term assurance, family income benefit, non-investment whole-of-life assurance, critical illness insurance, income protection insurance, private medical insurance and insurance-related products for properties and their contents. The range of insurers is based on a fair analysis of the relevant market. We’ll need to know various bits of information about your lifestyle and hobbies, and medical information. You can refuse to provide us with this information, but it will mean that we are unable to recommend you to our panel.
When we’re recommending buildings or contents insurance, we work with several home insurers.
As with our mortgage services, we don’t charge you for our protection services as we’re paid commission by the insurer for arranging the policy.
We always aim to provide you with the best possible service and support during your mortgage application process. However, there may be times when we are unable to proceed with your application. We understand that this can be disappointing, so we promise to let you know as soon as possible if this happens. These reasons might be:
We know that finding the right mortgage is important to you, and we’re committed to helping you every step of the way. So if we’re unable to proceed with your application, we’ll work with you to find other options that might suit your needs.
The mortgage process is obligation free, until the point where you have fully committed to your mortgage, such as by exchanging contracts on a purchase or your conveyancer has received the loan from the lender. If you want to cancel, let us know straight away.
It is our goal to provide customers with the best service, but we know that sometimes things don’t go according to plan. If you’re not happy with our service or you have a complaint, please contact us.
By reaching out to us and providing your feedback, this helps us understand what has gone wrong so we can have an opportunity to make it right, or so we can improve services.
